New Staffin summer newsletter: out now

ALL the latest news from Staffin including – a fond farewell to a shop stalwart, the youth club’s resurrection, new projects by the local historical society, the achievements of young Bollywood dancers, an important turf-cutting ceremony in Flodigarry etc – all feature in the summer 2019 community newsletter for the district.

Effie MacLeod from Digg retired last month from the community-run Staffin Stores as manager, with Lyndsey Clark her successor. In 2006, the shop lease was bought by Staffin Community Hall Association Limited and is being run as a social enterprise for the benefit of the community, with all profits donated to the association. Effie was the shop’s first manager under the association’s ownership and had worked in the shop since the early 90s.

The Staffin Stores team on the day of Effie’s retirement: Andrea, Effie, Lyndsey and Jane.

Hardcopies of the newsletter are available at Staffin Post Office, MacKenzie Stories, Staffin Stores and Columba 1400 and were also provided to pupils at Sgoil Staffain.
